Mid-2025 Family Update
As we are halfway through 2025, I thought it’d be a good time to provide an update on what has been happening with my family.
Charlotte turned five in February. She played soccer for the first time, and I didn’t miss a game. While she enjoyed her teammates, her cheering section and post-game snacks, she doesn’t want to play again. She prefers dance and is signed up for two classes (ballet and jazz) in the Fall. Her performances in the Spring Recital were outstanding. Charlotte graduated from “T-K” in June and is looking forward to Kindergarten.
Jameson celebrated his First Reconciliation in February. He even taught Fr. Tom how to do belly breathing before he confessed his sins. He is obsessed with football. He played Flag Football this year and loved it. He was the only one who always knew the score. He also watched his first NFL Draft and can probably name each pick and team mentioned in the first round. He set up and conducted his own draft, sending family members to teams across the nation. Jameson left the third grade in June and will be on the “big-kid” side of the campus next year.
Steel and Taylor were finally able to go on a honeymoon. They spent ten days in Portugal and loved every minute of it. They spent most of their time in Lisbon and Porto. Steel even invited us to visit when they move there in the future. The newlyweds recently added a chocolate Labrador puppy to the family. Introducing Gretzky. Steel’s job is closer to home, and they are settling into married life.
Joey and Sierra have their hands full with their children and the various activities they are involved in. Joey continues to work a lot and manages to hold down several jobs simultaneously.
Sierra is in the car a lot, shuffling the kids back and forth. She got her first real taste of “Sports Mom” when Jameson played flag football. It was fun to watch her get nervous and pace back and forth. She remembers well her mother doing the same thing. Now she really understands.
Leroy and I kicked off the year on Maui in Hawaii and then traveled to Mexico City on a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Guadalupe. (This was the first time I packed carry-on only, ever.) It took several weeks to recover (physically) from the Mexico trip, but we are now back to good health.
Leroy still loves his job and his clients. He is coaching high school football again this year (part-time) and always finds time to squeeze in a round of golf whenever the opportunity arises. He earned a trip to The Masters in Augusta, Georgia and scratched off a bucket list item.
And me? I keep busy by spending time with family and friends. My social calendar is full. Between Book Club, Wednesdays with Joan, holidays and the kids’ sporting events, I am out of the house quite a bit. I am still writing (obviously) and have finally completed an overhaul on my website. (Moving back to the platform I moved away from a year ago.) 🤦🏻♀️ I have also (finally) started work on a new video series featuring my British buddy, Stuart.
