"Are you willing to be uncomfortable for 5 minutes? Exercising is easier once you've started the workout. Conversation is easier once you're already talking. Writing is easier once you're in the middle of it. But many rewards in life will elude you if you're not willing to be a little uncomfortable at first." — James Clear
"Until death, all defeat is psychological." — Marcus Aurelius
"Success is wanting to be where you are." — James Clear
"Your mind will follow whatever you feed it. Want better thoughts? Consume better things." — James Clear
"It only takes five minutes to break the cycle. Five minutes of exercise and you are back on the path. Five minutes of writing and the manuscript is moving forward again. Five minutes of conversation and the relationship is restored. It doesn't take much to feel good again." — James Clear
"The shortest distance between a human being and Truth is a story." — Anthony de Mello, Jesuit priest
BOOK REPORT
BOOK: My Friends by Frederik Backman
This book perfectly shows the impact of stories. It follows four teenagers who spend the summer together and survive their tragic home lives. It shows how that summer affects future generations. It is told as a series of stories within the main story, which some find hard to track, but Backman makes it easy to follow. The characters stay consistent, and you grow to know them right after they are introduced. The book was a Book Club favorite.
BOOK: The God of the Woods by Liz Moore
I don’t always like the books I choose for Book Club, and this is one of them. I try to avoid the “whodunnits” because they’re not my favorite genre, but this one snuck in with high ratings. I made myself finish it, but it took all of my waning mental capacity to keep the characters straight.
