Jameson’s First NFL Game
Leroy took Joey, Steel and Jameson to the 49er game on Sunday, September 28, 2025, to watch former Central Catholic player Johnny Mundt play with the Jacksonville Jaguars. This was Jameson’s first NFL game, and it was an incredible experience. Sierra told Jameson he would be making core memories that day, but we had no idea what an extraordinary experience it would be.
Leroy insisted on leaving early to get a good parking spot for tailgating. Jameson didn’t know what “tailgating” was, so Sierra explained it as a party in the parking lot. Leroy prepped the food per usual and served hot dogs at Jameson’s request, along with steak sandwiches. Jameson spotted some kids in Jaguar jerseys like his and asked to play with them. They tossed the football back and forth, and Jameson made more friends.
The boys went into the stadium to watch warm-ups, which was another reason to leave the house early. Leroy knew this would be the best opportunity for Jameson to interact with the players. Jameson made a list of players he wanted to see, including Johnny Mundt, Jack Kaiser, a former Notre Dame player, and Travis Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner.
Jameson was able to catch Trevor Lawrence’s attention by calling out his name until Trevor turned and waved to him. Then he had the same opportunity with Travis Hunter. Travis was signing jerseys for kids, so Jameson just kept calling his name. Finally, Travis turned and waved at Jameson, then took off his gloves and asked a security guard to deliver them to Jameson.
Jameson remained loyal to his team, despite being surrounded by San Francisco fans. One guy even bought him a box of M&Ms. At one point, it looked like the 49ers were going to make a dramatic comeback, and Jameson wasn’t sure he wanted to watch it. But Grandpa convinced him to stay, and sure enough, the Jaguars held off the 49ers for the win. Jameson made them all wait until there was no time left on the clock before they left the stadium.
Jameson expressed his appreciation all the way home and told Leroy that it had been the best day of his life. Once again, Leroy was the Magic Maker, making dreams come true. The last time Leroy attended an NFL game, he came home and said he didn’t need to go again. But this opportunity was too good to pass up and well worth the effort to see the joy on Jameson’s face.
